Three Houghton Weddings in August!
Well—how splendid Three weddings in August within village families! Melissa and Joanna are of course both Sylvie Graydon’s grand-daughters. Jamie and Nadine made their day extra special, with their children very much part of the celebration. Generally speaking, the sun shone for all of them, at least for some of if not all the time!
Apart from the excitement of so many weddings, the village has been relatively quiet during the traditional ‘summer holiday’ month. However, with September already on our doorstep, the social life of the village gets going again. The 60s/70s Disco Night at the village hall is sure to be a ‘rave’: dig out those flowery dresses and flares…. and ‘dig’ the music (as I believe they said in those days!) At the other end of the (music) spectrum, ‘Drinks with Strings’ at Saxon Farm is sure to be elegant and soothing. And sandwiched (aarrgh!) in between those events, is the return of the monthly Village Coffee Morning – a chance to catch up on what we’ve all been doing over the summer, over a cuppa and a bacon buttie and/or slice of cake.
September is a new start in so many ways: a new school/university year, a new term for Singing for Fun, the WI……and hopefully a new ’tenant’ for the newly available allotment!
