Houghton Village Hall enjoyed hosting their first Open Mic Night on 9th March 2013. Despite the pouring rain, thunder and foggy conditions, there were over seventy spectators!
We had a wonderful performance smooth jazz by veteran guitarist Matt Davis and his girlfriend Carol who sang the blues beautifully. The crowed were up dancing to the sounds very early on in the night! Then we had a star performance by local Riverkeeper Ben Battey, supported by The Locators bassist, and Houghton Riverkeeper Paul Osman. It was Ben’s first live performance and he was rewarded with extremely loud applause.
The night was finished off with a full set by our local classic rock band, The Locators… who were forced to play longer with four very rowdy encores! Watch this space for the next Houghton Open Mic Night!
