Houghton Village Hall News – September 2014
Many villagers may be aware of the plans by the Village Hall Management Committee to further improve the facilities for the village.
The current storage or ’cage’ area at the rear of the hall is looking very sad and the removable panels are increasingly hard to move. Plans are to totally remove the existing storage area and cage and replace with a covered cage area doubling the size as well as increasing and improving storage capacity. The existing wire panels will be replaced with user friendly panels and a patio area laid outside beyond the covered area.
In the small room to the left of the stage, a doorway will replace the current window at the back to enable access to the rear of the building without passing through the kitchen. A benefit for a large event is both areas being used without interruption to the kitchen.
The Village Hall Committee hopes to use local contractors for each part of the project so if you have any recommendations for tendering we would love to hear from you.
We would love to hear your thoughts or comments regarding this proposed project…it is YOUR Village Hall!
