Church News February 2014
It has been such a busy time since Christmas, a few days rest and we are all straight back into the rush of daily life. It’s a time when we feel we have to sort things out; we’ve been through Christmas celebrations, now let’s face the things which we need to tackle and organise both the difficult and pleasurable.
On this same theme within the Benefice we held a Vision Day and over 20 of us met to pray and seek God’s guidance as we discussed the way forward for our little village churches for now and the years to come. It was a very happy and productive day and much was discussed as we looked ahead and undertook to consider our mission and purpose in these places in a rapidly changing world.
In many ways you might say that we already have our instructions given to us by the Lord, “Go” he said “and make disciples…, and remember I am with you until the end of the world” and “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
In all that we are doing and planning we are remembering that the greatest gift we as Christians can give is love and care and to help others to come to know the Lord Jesus who brings the eternal gift of his presence and life. We have Christ’s promises that he is with us and so are confident as St Paul reminds us , “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16, 17).
